Above The Fear tells the story of Uganda’s Queer swim community—non athletes who dive into the water not just to train and fellowship, but to survive. Led by activists Clare and Didi, the swimmers carve out a rare space of freedom in a country where anti-LGBTQ+ laws and social violence threaten their daily lives. As international competitions approach and political pressure intensifies, the team must decide how visible they are willing to be. Through intimate moments in and out of the pool, the film reveals the quiet bravery required to live authentically—and the power of chosen family to keep hope afloat
